Flip Ultra HD Video Camera Review

Posted on August 31st, 2010 in Blogging | No Comments »

The Flip Ultra HD has to be the very best video camera I have ever had the chance to use and review. From the moment I decided to buy the Flip Ultra HD (I got a great deal on the flip ultra, I saved almost $50) I knew this was an excellent camera.

In fact, I think it’s safe to say that the Flip Ultra HD is the best digital camera I have ever used – especially when it comes to video uploading and sharing and even shooting high definition video, it’s all so easy to use

The Flip arm is where the money is, in my opinion. If you can’t figure out how to use the Flip, than I don’t know. For a guy like me that hates manuals and just wants to use the digital camera then this is a dream come true of a digital video recorder.

All I have to do to connect the Flip Ultra HD to my computer is this:
Flip open built in USB 2.0 connector
Plug connector into my USB slot on my computer

From there the OS takes over and recognizes the flip video camera which shows up on the computer and then it’s just drag and drop to transfer my videos. If I want to edit my videos I can with the flip video software that’s included and this also offers the easy benefit of fast and simple uploads to facebook and youtube. I did share one video on youtube and it was easy

Speaking of easy, the big red record button on the back to record couldn’t be easier if it tried. When I wan to record video I press the big red button. When I want to stop the flip video camera from recording I press the red button again.

The Flip Ultra HD is without a doubt, the very best video camera I have ever used when it comes to ease of use.

Save Money When Buying A Laptop

Posted on August 28th, 2010 in Blogging | No Comments »

When looking for a new laptop, the choices about where to go are numerous and sometimes the prices you find look great, but everyone want to find just the right laptop on sale. It takes some time and research, but there are a few guidelines to remember.

The first way to get a computer is to go to some of the major box store websites. They occasionally have sales going on that are worth your time to look at. You can also expect that these stores have some of the best brand names in the business. And while you are there you may be able to find a good combination deal that sells the computer and a printer.

There are of course many websites that allow you to buy used computers. There is no question that a used product is going to be cheaper than buying something new and it does not take a lot of research on your part to make sure that the person you are buying from is reputable. The local electronics store is another place to find a cheap new laptop.

In this case, you may need to do a little homework. These stores need to get new merchandise in their places regularly, so if you take some time and study what they have and how long they have certain computers, you may eventually be able to bargain with the owner. The owner may be happy to get rid of his product at a reduced rate if it has been sitting on the shelf for a long time.

A laptop does not have to be a very expensive proposition. If you are willing to take some time and think about the various possibilities that exist in this market, you should be able to get a good deal on a computer that will last for years and take care of all of your computing needs.

New iPad

Posted on August 22nd, 2010 in Blogging | No Comments »

There are lots of rumors about whether the new iPad will be an iPad mini or just a vamped up version of the current size. It seems that the screen technology is definitely going to be even more improved but many simply don’t think that apple would release a new version that is the same size as it is only six months since the release of the first iPad.

If it is a mini iPad, which many claim it will be, and that it will be 7 inches in size then makers of iPad cases are going to be very happy indeed. Cases are bought in large numbers and if there is a small version then you can bet that there will be a wave of case purchases to go along with the new model.

But it is all conjecture at the moment. We hear many stories every day about the fact that in Taiwan there is already parts being made for the new iPad but no one can really seem to say for definite if it is true or simply rumor.

Apple have totally cornered the market in the tablet arena and it seems that if they want to keep their position then it is in their best interests to ensure that they cater for those that would like a different size that may simply be easier to carry about with them. A seven inch screen is certainly going to make the tablet a lot more portable but we will simply have to wait and see.

It does seem that with the price being so high for the standard size at the moment it makes sense to release a smaller version that is going to allow more people to buy and for apple to capture even more of the market then they currently have, so will will see what happens this year.

The New XBox Kinect Takes on the Wii

Posted on August 21st, 2010 in Blogging | No Comments »

After Microsoft premiered the Xbox Kinect in 2009, gamers realized that the Wii would face major competition.  Before it had dominated the realm of motion-controlled video games, as it was the only console offering this type of experience. Now its fate is uncertain, since the Xbox Kinect possesses many more advantages.

For example, most XBox Kinect games will offer better graphics than those available for the Wii.  Indeed, the Wii cannot compete with the Xbox Kinect’s processing power, as many of its games look fifth-generation.  The only reason the Wii even has cornered the market is because of its appeal to partygoers, who enjoy the numerous multiplayer games the Wii has to offer.

However, the Xbox Kinect is still unexplored territory for Microsoft.  Before, the company targeted hardcore gamers with their Xbox 360 titles.  Kinect games are poised to attract a different type of audience… something that Microsoft wants to achieve.  But it will go a step further than the Wii, since the Xbox Kinect is an all-inclusive device.  You will not have to buy an extra controller to play Kinect games.  If you have arms, legs and a torso, you have everything you need to play the Xbox Kinect.  With the Wii, you have to buy a different set of devices.

Wii Fit is a very good example.  In order to play, you must purchase a separate Balance Board.  The Xbox Kinect’s equivalent, (Fitness Evolved), requires no such peripherals.  You can start exercising as soon as you turn the console on.  This will also be the case with other Wii-to-Kinect titles, such as The Biggest Loser and Zumba Fitness.

Of course, fitness games will not be the only type of entertainment that the Wii will have to compete against.  The Xbox Kinect’s equivalent to Mario Kart will be Kinect Joy Ride.  No wheels are required to play.  There will also be Kinectimals, a Kinect game where you control a virtual pet.  Ultimately, Microsoft seeks to capitalize on the type of innovation that formally defined Nintendo during the modern-era of video gaming.

Now, Nintendo is faced with a very serious problem.  Innovation alone may not be enough to keep sales going.  It is very likely that the Wii will become extinct once the Xbox Kinect reaches the market.  The only exception is if the Kinect games offer inferior or unusual gameplay.  This is particularly the case for games where people are used to using a remote.  Take into consideration a racing game.  It is natural to expect to control a virtual car with a wheel.  Not using one will seem strange, even if everything else seems okay.  So, in that aspect, Nintendo may have a slight advantage.

In conclusion, only time will tell if the Xbox Kinect surpasses the success of the Nintendo Wii.  If it does, Nintendo will have to respond with more creative innovation.

Time To Buy A Kindle I Think

Posted on August 21st, 2010 in Blogging | No Comments »

The Kindle 3G and wifi is just about to be available and I have already placed my order. Have you? I was loathe to do it but enough is enough. My house is already full of way to many book cases ans shelves that are overflowing with paperbacks and being a very avid reader it will only get worse.

I am going to put a stop to all of this and buy the Kindle 3 and never get to a stage where I cannot see the walls of my house again. I am sure that it is going to make a massive difference to the amount of room I will have in the house and I am sure that it will save me money.

I mean, the price of the Kindle is less than a decent book case for a start so I am making money just by buying one.

And apart from anything else there is no doubt that the new Kindle with 3G or the wifi option is simply going to ensure that I will be able to read anywhere I want and with ease. It seems that it works great in bright sunlight as there is no glare and it works just as well indoors where there is much lower levels of light too.

But what I am very impressed with is the fact that I can store well over three thousand books on the Kindle. Oh, and the battery will last for over a month between a charge which kind of seems a little incredible. Especially when you compare it to the iPad where the battery lasts like, what, four hours or so. I can’t really seem to get why the iPad is so popular but I guess all the sliding gadget stuff is here to stay and people love it.

If you too have more bookcases than you really should then maybe you should save yourself some cash and buy the new Kindle 3 instead.
