Discount GPS Systems

Posted on April 4th, 2010 in Blogging | No Comments »

If you are not fortunate enough to have a newer vehicle with a built-in GPS system, you can opt to purchase one for those long rides or traveling to unfamiliar areas.  The average price of GPS units has drastically decreased in recent years and it is possible to find discount GPS systems at a fraction of the original cost.

Comparison shopping will get you the best bang for your buck.  You can search for coupons or discounts in your local retail stores.  The weekly sales ads will usually have at least one store with a sale. There are several sites online that do the legwork for you comparing products and prices and all you have to do is figure out which one works best for your needs.

Online shopping will provide a wide range of navigation systems from top of the line major brands to copycat models from around the globe.  Before buying online, and especially if you are purchasing from overseas, be certain that the navigation system is available in English.

The cheapest offer is not always the best deal.  Researching the features, and warranty are just as important as the cost. If the device does not offer a warranty, regardless of the price, this is a red flag.

Another important factor is the quality.  Most devices, even the inexpensive ones offer features such as compatibility with traffic channels and updates for new areas.  If you are looking for a simple navigation unit to help you find your way, minus the panic buttons and celebrity voices, locating an affordable navigation device is just a matter of doing your homework.

The most important thing to remember is not to sacrifice quality for cost.  You may find yourself in the middle or nowhere and your trusted navigation system will not be able to help you.

GPS Tracking Is Advantageous to Families

Posted on January 28th, 2010 in Blogging | No Comments »

When it comes to GPS tracking, there is very little that is more precious than life.  This is especially true when you consider your family members or others that are near and dear to your heart.  To be sure, some of our family members are certainly more vulnerable than other family members as well.  Small children and elderly individuals suffering from dementia are much more vulnerable than able bodied men or even teenagers.  It is the safety of these weaker vessels that GPS tracking technology can be extremely helpful to those that would see them kept safe.

It you really sit down and think about it, you will see that GPS tracking for people has advantages.

If we look at it this way, we get a perspective on GPS Tracking devices as technological tools that allow us to protect those who would not be able to protect themselves given certain conditions.  It is obvious that those who are suffering some form of infirmity or who have some type of mental illness or handicap that prevents them from making normal, rational decisions would benefit most from having a safety tracking device installed on their person.  An example of this might be an Alzheimer’s sufferer who has a propensity to wander.

Another real life example would be a sufferer of Down’s syndrome.  Their mental disability places them at a marked disadvantage when faced with those that would seek to exploit them in some fashion.  While a tracker cannot prevent all exploitation, it can help you make sure that they are in safe places where exploiters do not go – like at home or at school.

There is also a lot of good that a GPS tracking unit can do for children. When they have a unit put inside their book bag, backpack, or lunch pail they can be found extremely easily by parents who want to be able to find their child.  This is good for children who are at risk of kidnapping and other crimes because it helps parents feel empowered to help their families in time of need.

More information can be found at GPS tracking blogs and other web resources that can help you understand more of the advantages associated with this type of technology.

GPS Tracking Groups

Posted on January 15th, 2010 in Blogging | No Comments »

There are not very many GPS tracking groups out there on the Internet. There are tons of geocaching groups where members get together and take out their GPS navigation units like the Garmin Gmaps 60CSx and head into the hills to find buried treasure.  There are even groups for people who use GPS from their PDA.  But when you do the searching you find that there are very few groups that have formed for the express purpose of talking about GPS tracking and all the different ways that it can be used to help regular folk like you and me.

There are probably a lot of different reasons why there is such a dearth of information about these groups out there.  The first is that GPS tracking has only recently trickled down from the world of corporate fleet management to consumer grade applications.  In the manufacturers race to create better products for the commercial market they have finally made consumer grade tracking affordable for everyone.

Another key factor has been the integration of GPS into cell phone technology.   Cell phone and GPS tracking devices share a common method of data delivery, meaning that any cell phone is just a simple software upgrade away from being its very own GPS tracking device.  This has opened up the world of GPS tracking to a whole new audience that would never have thought of owning a tracker outright.

That is why developing a group for people interested in this topic is such an important thing.  Consumers need to be educated about how they can use their GPS tracking devices to make life better.  If you are interested in finding such a group there is a GPS tracking groupie guide that seeks to inform consumers about this powerful technology and the different things that they can do to make it work for them and their families.
