Laptop Printer for You

Posted on October 17th, 2010 in Blogging | No Comments »

Many years ago, the first printers that became available in the market were all big, bulky and expensive. They also had poor resolution. Because of their size, they were rather difficult to move around. You had to get other people’s help in order to relocate it, or you would have to use some sort of transportation medium to get the job done. Due to their poor printing quality, either you would have had to be content with the initial print outs or you would just reprint those unsatisfactory pages until you get your desired output. And because of its price, not everyone was able to get the chance to sue such a device.

As the years progressed though, the need to improve design and efficiency became more evident. The desktop computer was evolving and a new one was being marketed-the laptop. When the laptop computer emerged in the electronic market, it seemed logical that printers ought to be innovated as well. It would rather be inconvenient if people with laptops still had to go to their homes or offices just to get some documents printed out, or they would have to find a place just to get something printed. That is why eventually electronic companies developed the portable printer. This printer is more compact and more portable than its primitive counterparts, but even though it has been downsized, its resolution is far better than the ones produced many years before it.

If you are looking for the best laptop printer there is, you could read articles from the internet or from tech magazines that feature gadget reviews. Of course, different people would have different suggestions regarding which is the best laptop printer out in the market. If you cannot make up your mind, you could just go visit an electronic store and see fro yourself which among the many is the best.

The Downside of Using a Laptop

Posted on August 15th, 2010 in Blogging | No Comments »

Everybody is cashing in nowadays to the emerging leverage of laptop computers in this age of technologically mobile society. It is fast becoming an indispensable must-have gadget, approaching the status of the mundane cell phones. Most of us already have this notion that having a laptop is already a technical upgrade as against using a desktop computer. Probably yes, with all the physical mobility laptop computing has to offer to our ever changing and fast-paced lifestyles. And of course, with all these perceived advantages of using a laptop, there’s this proverbial other side of the coin. There is always a downside in using laptop computers.

Here are some of them:

Price
Pricing is always an issue with laptop computers. You really have to shell out a bigger amount of money when buying a particular laptop model as compared to a desktop system with similar overall specifications. Whether or not the mobility factor is worth the price upgrade for these portable computers is yet another issue altogether, especially when netbook has become so popular nowadays. Just look at some of this netbook deals — they are so much cheaper than a traditional laptop, and yet provide sufficient power for our daily computing tasks.

Power Source
Yes, the battery. Just asking how many laptop users out there are totally satisfied with their laptop’s battery life is the same as asking how many Red Sox fans out there in New York. Actually, battery life largely depends on how you use it and not merely for how long. Power users and gamers snuff out the life force of their batteries faster than the casual net surfer. Heating issues are also commonplace with laptop usage and this is actually well discussed whenever you browse for various laptop reviews on the internet.

Standardization issues
Internal component and peripheral form factors that are non-existent in laptop computers whereas in the desktop computing world, CPU, peripheral and add on card form factors are very much standardized to the point of saying that building and upgrading desktop computers can be described as modular.

Upgrading and repairing
Now, we come to this point where computer hardware technicians face their ultimate challenge as real, competent PC technicians they all claim to be. Because of standardization issues discussed above, upgrading, troubleshooting and repairing laptop computers requires more attention and requires a more competent and qualified computer and electronics expert that can prove a more costly affair than we ever imagine. In most cases, people who have dysfunctional laptops with expired warranties almost always end up buying a new one.

Performance issues
Because of the designer compactness of most of the current laptops out there, high performance is compromised in exchange of energy efficiency. The RAM is well integrated to the program memory and a considerable chunk of it is used up by the integrated graphics adapter, thereby affecting laptop performance.

Why You May Need a Webcam for Laptop Computers

Posted on August 8th, 2010 in Blogging | No Comments »

“I already have a laptop.  It serves all my everyday purposes and it’s convenient.  So why is it so important I have a webcam for my laptop as well?”

This may have been said several times and in many other ways before, but yes, it is truly important that one have a webcam built in or set up on their laptop.  More often than not people associate webcams for laptops with online chatting, online dating and other stereotypical uses, but for the more business-minded sort, there are a lot of other benefits as well.  And yes, there’s more to face-to-face conversation online than just chatting and dating, although it could help that cause as well.

Bosses, for instance, may find having a webcam for laptop to be very useful in monitoring their employees at work.  While most employees are full-grown, supposedly mature adults, most employees also believe in the saying “when the cat is away, the mouse will play”.  There will be none of this if a webcam is used as a security tool for bosses.  Company security can also use it for monitoring company-based thefts, which are unfortunately quite common these days.

And on the personal side, wouldn’t you agree that it’s much better to chat with someone if you can actually see him or her?  Superficial as it may seem, how many of you have been bummed out after that so-called looker you met on the Internet turned out to be the exact opposite?  Having a webcam for laptop eliminates such risks – well, almost.  And it makes conversations with family or other loved ones more intimate when you’re thousands of miles away.

Maybe this article won’t persuade you immediately to get a webcam installed or to purchase a laptop with webcam included, but hopefully it will put to rest some of the misconceptions on webcam usage on the laptop.

Maintaining Your Laptops

Posted on May 11th, 2010 in Blogging | No Comments »

Laptops are complex portable machines. They process a lot of information and accommodate thousands to billions of data. This is why it is not new to us that they are just that prone to overheat, short circuits, surface scratches, and not to mention computer viruses. Scratches and surface dirt are very much true and noticeable especially for notebooks covered in bright colors, pink sony vaio laptops for instance. Sometimes we do attempt to maintain our respective portable computers but still, they get messed up right away. Dust is one of the most persistent causative factors in decreasing computer value. However, it is never too late to devise a plan in effectively taking care of your respective notebooks. The following are some suggested ways in maintaining your laptops:

  • Do not expose it to extreme heat. Yes I know this is pretty common in user manuals, but is frequently neglected. Usual extra warm places where it is not encouraged to use are kitchen, attic, and garage. Ideal place to use it is in air-conditioned offices and rooms. If in cases it must be used there, do the next tip;
  • Use cooling pads. This will serve as exhaust fans of your devices. In cold places or rooms they are optional, but in warm places like the ones mentioned above, they are a must.
  • Use keyboard covers. These can be bought either online or at your local computer stores. They are usually transparent so you can protect your keyboards especially when typing and generally using your computer. If you plan to save money, you can always make an improvised cover. Try cutting a plastic cover for books, and just place it over your keyboard. Anything works, long as it serves its purpose.
  • Update your anti-virus software. You wouldn’t want your computer to be looking clean and pleasant but having dirty corrupt files inside due to viruses. Sadly, software cannot be improvised so it must be bought. However, if you’re really tight on money, there’s still a way. Borrow an installer from your friend or relative.
  • Be aware to tricky false ads. Some of them are controlled by “bots” whose purpose is to get into your system, and just waste your precious time. Don’t accept spam-looking offers because those are spywares. They will just congest in your cache and your next internet surfing won’t be good anymore. Infinite pop-ups appear, and eventually you’ll have to reformat your PC.

As you noticed, it’s not enough to take care of your PC externally. You must also keep an eye to your actual computer system. That is “holistic” maintenance. Planning to buy pink laptops? For countless resource on such cool notebooks, visit http://bestpinklaptops.com/.
