Is The Market For The 10-inch Netbook Changing?

Netbooks are some of the cheapest laptops on the market today. Once the first 10-inch netbook hit the market, and was a big hit, all computer manufacturers began flooding the market. The demand for these budget friendly machines has not dwindled, not even in the slightest. However, it would appear that consumers would like more options when it comes to netbooks.
The most common size, in this market, is the 10-inch netbook. Most of the best selling netbooks today such as the Asus Eee PC 1005PE and Toshiba NB305 are netbooks with 10-inch display. While that is the perfect size for those who travel and for students, it does not give consumers much of a choice. Of course, they could go up to a standard laptop, but then you lose cost effectiveness and they are quite a bit heavier to carry around.
Another complaint, besides variety, is that this is simply too small of a screen. Now, you might think that an inch or two would not make a difference, but it does. Some manufacturers on considering going up to an 11-12 inch screen, which consumers are thrilled about.
The question stands; however, when larger netbooks are available, will the 10 inch models be obsolete? There are many consumers who would definitely purchase the larger netbooks, but there are still those who will stay loyal to the smaller screens as well. So the best netbook size is neither 10-inch nor any any size larger than that. As with everything else, everyone has their preferences.
The key here, in this market, is giving the people something to choose from. Consumers are happier when they can make a choice rather than saying, if you want small, affordable, and portable, this is what you have to have. On the flip side, manufacturers are not making the money they could have on these machines because literally everyone is selling them.
Competition is good, but too much is not beneficial to anyone. Manufacturers of the 10-inch netbook need to see an increase in sales in order to continue to provide consumers with what they need. Some manufacturers see the only solution, to this dilemma, as creating netbooks that are just a tad larger.
